Presents for Meeeee!!

I am enjoying looking at the different interpretations of my Quantiesque snowflake. It is so amazing how one single pattern can give varied results by the different thread used. I must say that this design is becoming my favorite design even though I have only made one piece, LOL.

It would be a shame not to share the all the wonderful work done with this pattern. What I plan to do now is post the photos of the different variation here in my blog. It is sort of like a present back to me from each one of you.

Since I do not yet have the permission to display the actual photo, I will provide links to the respective blogs where they are shown. If your blog is in the list, I would very much like your permission to post your picture of the snowflake. And if I have missed yours, please let me know about it because I really, really want to add it in here.

Here it is again, the original piece in Coral Reef, size 40

A pretty one from Mary McCarthy - the white and red in the centre is pulling me to this.

And some more, in no particular order. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Joy - purity in white
Tattycat 1, Tattycat 2, Tattycat 3 - you can't stop with one, can you? LOL
Riet - gold is grand
Heather - your 'sorts of' are looking good too ;-)
Clyde - thank you for adding in the recommendation.
Pamela - scroll down to the end, if you can make through the eye-fest before it, LOL
Steph - the black in the centre is attracting attention

These are what I managed to get by going through the Tatted Ring of Bloggers.

The Special List

The Special List
...... by .... Unknown Author

I have a lot of folks I know ... All written in a book,
And every now and then .... I go and take a look.

That is when I realise ....
These names ... they are a part
Not of the book they are written in ...

But taken from the heart.

For each name stand someone ....
Who has crossed my path some time
And in that meeting they have become .....
The reason and the rhyme.

Although it sounds fantastic .... for me to make this claim
I really am composed .... of each remembered name.

Although you're not aware ... Of any special link
Just knowing you has shaped my life ....
More than you could think.

So please don't think my greeting ....
As just a mere routine
Your name was not .... forgotten in between.

For when I send a greeting .... That is addressed to you
It is because you are on the list ....
Of folks I'm indebted to.

So whether I have known you ...... for many days or few,
In some ways you have a part .... in shaping things I do.

I am but a total ..... Of many folks I've met,
You are a friend I would prefer ...
Never to forget.

No other words to be added to the above - it says all that I want to say.

A present for You

Since it is the season for giving, I have a present for readers of my blog, the pattern for this snowflake, which I call 'Quantiesque'.

The pattern is available in my Patterns Page. There is an explanation there on why I name the snowflake Quantiesque.

'Quantiesque' Snowflake

To join in the spirit of giving, here is a present for you, readers of my blog. A snowflake pattern that I have just completed.

If you are wondering about the name, here is the explanation for it. I was transfixed by the effects of the centre which is a take of the Mary Quant logo of the 60's. The actual MQ logo has five 'petals'. Yes, I remember those times, :-). I must be really ancient to some of you, huh!

I didn't have time to draw the chart for this, but I will get it done and update the chart here later.

This snowflake is made in three rounds with a tiny bit of celtic effect made by Rounds 1 and 2 together.

Round 1 - using shuttle & ball

R(5-3-3-5), reverse work.
(*)C(8-8), reverse work.
R(5+3-3-5), join to last picot of previous ring, reverse work.
Repeat from (*) three time more.

C(8-8), reverse work.
R(5+3-3+5), joining to the last picot of previous ring, and the first picot of the first ring.

Cut, tie and hide ends.

Round 2 - shuttle & ball

R(4-2-2-2-2-4), reverse work.
C(6), reverse work.
R(4+2-2-2-2-4), reverse work.
C(10-10), reverse work.

Repeat these four steps, joining the last chain to the first ring. Cut, tie and hide ends.

What you should get is six pairs of rings joined together with a long chain as in this picture on the right.

Next, slip each pair of rings of Round 2 through each chain of Round 1, see right.

Round 3 - two shuttles

R(5+5), join to last picot of the 2nd ring of one pair of rings of Rnd 2. Do not reverse.
(*) R(5+5), join to the 1st picot of the 1st ring of the next pair of rings of Rnd 2. Reverse work.

C(3-3-3-3+), joined to the middle picot of the ring joined earlier. Reverse work.

Switch shuttle (SS), C(6), reverse work.
Make the clover, R(4-4-4-4), R(4+2-2-2-2-4) and R(4+4-4-4), reverse work.
C(6), reverse work.

SS, lock join to the middle picot of the next ring on the same pair of rings.
C(3-3-3-3), reverse work.
R(5+5), join to the last picot of the same ring joined earlier.

Repeat from (*) all round, joining the last chain to the beginning.

Cut, tie and hide ends.

I don't know if you still have time to make this to add to your tree. If you do, I'd love to see a photo of the snowflake, if it is possible. The model here is tatted using Pamela Myers' Coral Reef in size 40.

Another award

I received this from Tattingchic

This is the second time that I receive this. I feel so honoured that someone feels that I deserve this.

Now, I have to pass this on to six others and I name these bloggers err... I think I need more time to go through the wonderfully kreativ blogs that i have been reading. I will have to come back to this later.

Gifts from The Tattinggoddess

Woo ......hoooo .......... the gifts that was promised by Gina the Tattinggodess arrived last week. I was selected to win her October blog anniversary draw. I am not going to write much about this. Let the pictures do the talking.

Here they all are waiting for the reveal!

......... to show what is inside ......

And here are close-ups of them

A bar or scented soap from Sarah Michaels, a pack of little cards and the tatters must have, a bar of chocolate.

Who would have thought that this small container measuring just about 4in x 2.5 in could hold this much inside ...

And this small purse has these packed in it.

Take a closer look at the clasp of the purse.

Gina said the velcro-like/felt-like fabric is good to prevent beads from sliding away, and the retractor clip-on holder will keep my small hooks easily at hand.

And these books ...... "sigh" .... I love books

And finally, with a note from Gina comes this beautiful bookmark

Here is a close-up of the bookmark

Oooh .... I am in tatting heaven. Thank you Gina for a wonderful selection.
