Towel Edging and Insertions - pattern by Norma Benporath

This is the best that I can do for this pattern of Ms Benporath's, A Dainty Guest Towel in Tatting. I am quite happy with the small square insertion and the edging but struggled a bit with the large square.  After tatting a second time, the large square still did not turn out quite the way I was hoping it would, it showed some bowling.
Small square insertion
Towel Edging.  I have added a corner to the original design
Large square insertion
Round 1 of large square insertion makes a pretty motif on its own.
The chart for these will be too small for you to see if I were to post it here.  Instead I have prepared a pdf of the chart.  Please e-mail me if you would like a copy.  I am not always online, so I may only be able to e-mail it to you a day later.

  1. I think you're doing a wonderful job of interpreting Norma's patterns! I'm certain that it's very time consuming, so I really appreciate all of your efforts.

    1. Thank you Diane. I don't think I will grow tired of Norma Benporath's patterns, but the ones with large rings in them are being pushed aside for now.

  2. Yes indeed - I would like to add my thanks for your hard work in saving all these patterns for us. Unfortunately I can't see the insertons, because the site says that the bandwidth has been exceeded! - so will try again another day.
I have finally begun my Lace Mat - only had to unpick once in the first round! - but that's pretty good going for me.......

I think that large motif could be used as a snowflake.

    1. I think the first round of the large motif can also be turned into a snowflake by adding two more repeats. Thanks for the idea.
