Hearts Coaster Done
Continuing from previous post, this is the finished coaster,
They are supposed to be six heart motifs in here, but I can't see them anymore when all joined up like this. The finished size is 10cm across, or slightly under 4 inches. There is a tiny bit of cupping in the centre but should flatten out with some pressing.
May change the stitch count to reduce the cupping. Don't like the look of the chains on the outside either, so may change the stitch count in those places. I think I'll make this in two colours next so that the hearts outline show up.

It's a pretty doily in one color but you are right, the hearts are hard to find. With two colors they would stand out.
ReplyDeleteIt turned out lovely and I can see the separate hearts. It will be fun to see how your tweaks will change it!
ReplyDeleteVery nice Jon. I agree, it is hard to see the hearts done in 1 color as it is. using 2 colors would show that better.
ReplyDeletewhen you are talking about the chains on the outside, are you talking about the chains that cross between the hearts? or the chains that create the heart tops?
as for the center, do you need to outline the center ring of the trefoil with the chains, could you simply leave them as rings?
when using 2 colors, that ring could/would be made with the chain shuttle, or use a SCMR.
I meant the chains that create the heart tops. I think they are a bit too long. I have reduced it in the 2nd tat.
DeleteLooks very awesome to me!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI can see the hearts!! :) Really nice work kak! Inspire me a lot.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Nomaliza minat tatting?
DeleteVery pretty! I can see the cupping, but I have confidence that you'll work it out properly. : )
ReplyDeleteYour tatting is beautiful. I am trying to learn but not doing very well at reading a book or watching a DVD. Why didn't I pay attention so many years ago when Grandma and her friends would tat wonderful things?! Happy Tatting...
ReplyDeleteSometimes it helps a lot when learning in a group. Good luck with the learning.
DeleteThis design really appeals to me and I would love to see it in the two colours. You do not even need a lot of contrast to pop out those hearts - a shade or two of difference would do.
