Tat-a-Renda - about Tatting Lace,
and a bit of This and That.
Jon, you're amazing! Thank you for sharing another of your beautiful patterns. I'm going to make this one this weekend!
You are welcome Diane. Always happy to share.
WONDERFUL TRIBUTE to the ageless Hens and Chicks! How clever of you to create a star shape, and a very pretty one at that! Thanks so much for your generosity in sharing this pattern! I have a feeling I'll be tatting a lot of these!
Simple and nice, Jon. Thanks for sharing this pattern.
So simple...so pretty! Than you!Fox : )
I'm writing again after tatting this wonderful star and thank you again so much for the pattern. It works up very fast! Because of familiariaty with the 'usual' hens and chicks pattern, it only too me a few seconds to memorize your knot counts, and right away I realized you made the normally straight edge curve by having the smaller-than-usual 'chicks' rings connect at the 'top', minus the center picots. Of course, it's logical - but you're possibly the first person to do this! Very clever! And the star 'points' are just the right size. Even though I didn't 'need' to print out the pattern and diagram, I always admire how well you draw your patterns. This star has many possibiities!
Thank you all.Yes Kathy, the pattern is very easy to follow because of the familiarity with the hens-and-chicks. I just took a different look at it and the result is the star.
This is beautiful. Thank you for the pattern!
That's a brilliant beginners pattern, I usually teach that as an edging but it will be a welcome change to make it a star. Thanks a million for your great idea.
Thank you. And also should ring 1 in the written instructions be:R1 (3-2-3), rw?having it as 3-2-2 doesn't seem to match your visual pattern? (I'm new to this so I may be mistaken)
Thank you so much for sharing your pattern, Jon. I'll be trying out this beauty soon.
Dear Jon, happy to see your blog, you do so beautiful tatting lace work ! :-) Thank you very much for your pattern. I will come back, have a nice day :-)
Tara, you are right about the stitch count of Ring 1, it should be R!(3-2-3). I have made the change in the pdf file for download.
Very very pretty! ANOTHER WINNER! YAY! I LURVE your patterns, Jon! :)
Thank You for sharing this nice pattern. I think I'll tat one with more picots and pearls.Petra
Lovely pattern and just perfect as a decoration or gift tag. Would love your permission to share with the lacemaking group I am a member of as I am running a skills session in November this year. I have done a version in red, with green bugle beads on the bare threads as a decoration/gift tag. Regards, Wendy
mmmm I don't know how to read this... can anyone help... where do you start?
MomDea, this pattern requires a shuttle only, there is no all thread. You can start at any ring but I find it easier to begin with one of the small rings.
