Tatting Again

After about six weeks, I picked up my shuttles again and starting with this snowflake. Some may recognise that this is the Pirouette snowflake from my book. You'd think that since this snowflake is my design, I can breeze through it with half-closed eyes. I thought so too, ;)

Eeerk ..... Wrong! Can you see what I mean?

I did manage to get these right.

The top two are my designs.  On the left is Carrousel, from my snowflake book and the right is a spur-of-the-moment design which I don't have a name for.

The one in the bottom right is an adaptation of a design from Mary Koinor's Josephine Wreath, on page 75 of the book A Pattern Book of Tatting.

The one on the bottom left is from the book Tatting Patterns and Designs by Blomqvist & Persson. It is an adaptation of star #2 on page 33 of the book. I made the centre ring bigger to add one more repeat to trun it into a snowflake.

If you are wondering why I am working on snowflakes now, they have been commisioned for the end of the year.  Thought I should start early with them in case I get distracted before the year end.

  5. Diane, there are two things that can be addictive. One is tatting, and we know that already. The other is surfing the net reading all the tatting blogs. LOL.

TattingChic, I have to make 60 snowflakes before the end of the year. I think I have my hands full already, :)

Tatskool, trust your sharp eye to find it. I only realised the mistake after I have cut the thread.

Sue Anna, to err is human. LOL

Thank you Carla. Your tatting is beautiful too. I like your tatted tree.
